Day Three. Well this was the windy day, 20mph for us mere mortals 30mph or so for the invitationals in the afternoon!

My unknown was a flown ok bar two zeros! Again silly mistakes, the high wind caught me out on my crossbox spin, nose dropped just after the wing so that’s a zero! And I did a 1 1/2 roll on an up line instead of a 1 1/4 so when I corrected back that added another element in so therefore a zero! So that was my dropped unknown!!

On the known I flew as well as I could in the conditions, had a dust devil rip through during my loop, threw me a little so I was downgraded on it, otherwise the scores were good! That said the horrible conditions were the same for everyone so that’s not an excuse!

I was happy with my last flight and went out on a good one in my mind!

So freestyle tomorrow to spectate!! Can’t wait to see the best in the world going head to head in the strong winds predicted!! So we are off to the contest dinner tonight!! That should be fun with all the pilots!

Sounds tuff Matt, if it makes you feel any better, most of us can’t even read your move descriptions without our heads melting, never mind trying to fly the perfectly.
Sit back tomorrow and enjoy, you lucky dog.

    Matt,

Like Peter said, many onlookers don’t realise what it is like to do this at this level. Sure opened my eyes when I flew against these pilots in 2003 in Ohio. Just remember, you did the right thing by going out there early on and got a good weeks training in to aclimatise yourself to the conditions. Wish I had done that. I just got 2 flights in before I did it . . . LOL.

And yes, you need more that one plane out there.

Anyway, safe trip getting home and look after yourself and remember at lest you got there and did it. Next time, you will know what needs to be done.

    Dave
